Berry Good Morning

Just some mixed frozen berries and a couple of handfuls of fresh blueberries. Quite tasty.

A little Zumba yesterday and I'm ready to power through the rest of the week

Would have been better for dinner

Today's juice: kale, romaine, parsley, carrots, garlic, tomato, and an apple
Good stuff, but the garlic was a little weird at 5am.

Tropical Juicing

Tonight I had a little fun with the juicer.
1/2 each of a lemon and lime, mango, and cucumber. Poured it over ice and fresh mint. I added a shot of coconut water. Stirred with sugar cane. May have been better with rum, but it was sooo good as it was.

Fridge Explosion

Landing in the juicer this morning: kale, dandelion, beet root, celery, spinach, broccoli, kiwi, orange, 1/2 lemon, 1/2 sweet potato.
It was pretty good. Definately better than I had expected.

Off to the gym!

Sorta Simple

For this beautiful morning, I used kale, cucumber, carrot, squeeze of lemon and half of an apple left over from breakfast.
It was good-more towards refreshing than the previous veg mixes.

Breakfast was apple slices with peanut butter. I am addicted to the stuff!

Frozen Berry Treat

This morning's juice was the best! I used a bag of mixed berries and a bag of raspberries. It was a little thick, likely because they were still a little frozen... Oops. A little coconut water made it divine.

Exercise: Does making it through Monday count?

The Pulp Dilemma

At my new favorite local store, Sustain, they suggested a use for the pulp. You roll out the pulp on a sheet. Then cover it with flax seeds that have soaked in water for a few minutes. Then you put it in a dehydrator and......chips.
I need to play with seasonings more but smoked paprika is the winner from this batch. Thanks Sustain!

Sunday Brunch

I ate an apple this morning that would have been better off in the juice.
I used: beet root, kale, ginger, dandelion greens, spinach, broccoli, carrots, sweet potato, celery, and....how do you lose garlic?
It wasn't horrible, but certainly not good.  I tried adding celery salt....not much help.  Then some old berry seltzer I had found when hunting for the garlic.  The bubbles make it more interesting and it took the edge off of the bitter green flavor.
I will have to remember the berry bubbles for my next fruit mix.
Off for a Zumba party DVD and a walk later.

Real Food

Last night there was no juice.  I enjoyed a big plate of corned beef and cabbage with a side of green beer.  Definitely not on the diet, but oh so good!

Juice 4: The Big Mix

Yesterday was a "empty the refrigerator before it goes bad day".
I mixed in blueberries, blackberries, carrots, kale, celery and sprouts.  I left the beet root out on purpose because I thought it could last another couple of days in the ole fridge.  I forgot to put the orange in at first and it tasted, uh...not so good.  With the orange in, it was fabulous.
I am using the pulp to mix with some fig infused vinegar that a friend gave me to serve as a marinade for chicken.

Exercise: Zumba tone DVD
Energy: Great for a Friday, but I did take a 2 hour nap when I got home.

Juice 3

This was 3 days ago and the day I decided I should start a blog.
Veggie overload juice:  fennel, kale, carrot, garlic, beet root, sprouts, celery, celery root, small amount of broccoli, touch of lemon.
This was actually really good.  Who knew?!  I used some of the pulp to throw into some Organic Valley egg whites with cayenne, sea salt and roasted ginger spices.
Considering that I have not been blessed with a lot of sleep this week, I have much more energy than I deserve.  Could it be the juice?

Juice 2

Juice 1 was from 6 days ago.  I am playing catch up with the blog.
This was my second juice adventure 2 days later.
I threw in blueberries, blackberries and strawberries.  Not a big surprise that it tasted much better than Juice 1.
It is a little bit of a pain to clean up after juicing but not as bad as I had expected.  There is a lot of wasted pulp.  I will have to figure out a way around that.

Exercise:  Actually did some!  A little Zumba Cardio DVD and I am feeling energized.

Juice 1

So, I finally decided to use my new Breville juicer.  After a trip to the market to pick up all the organic produce, my wallet is lighter but I am excited to give it a whirl.
My first experiment included: broccoli, kale, beet root, grapes.
Hmmm, not too bad but definitely too much broccoli.
