Dark Tart Cherry Green Juice

Today I started with the grapefruit and kale in the blender as I did this weekend. Instead if water I used tart cherry juice. It was good, but again, because of the thickness I would not recommend it as someone's first juice.

The Mix:
3 kale leaves
1 pink grapefruit no rind or seeds
1 tbsp raw honey
1 tbsp coconut water powder
1/2 cup tart cherry juice

Spicy Chocolate Smoothie

If you like chocolate with an edge, this is the smoothie for you! Mine only had a slight edge, but you can go as far as you like with this.

1 scoop veg protein mix
1 cup flax milk
1/8 cup cocoa
1 cup frozen banana
1 tbsp raw local honey
3 dashes from my cayenne spice bottle

Blender Juicing

I decided on an experiment today. I used the blender, instead of the juicer, to make make my juice.
The mix: grapefruit with no rind and big seeds removed, 3 large kale leaves, tsp of local raw honey, tsp chia seeds, and a cup of water.

Calories: 215

It came out pretty good. The texture was different than when using a juicer, as expected, but did not gross me out or anything. I would not recommend it for a first time juicer.

1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 cups flax milk
1 serving acai berry juice

A squeeze of lemon juice into the ice cream portion.

Green Glasses

Last night I juiced everything. I started and just couldn't stop.
A warning about this one: cilantro is powerful, use sparingly.

The juicy mix:  apple, beet, carrots, cauliflower, cilantro, grapefruit, kale, lemon, lime, parsley, pear, yellow pepper, Swiss chard, tomato, and some added chia seeds for this morning's glass.

Saving Calories Friday Smoothie

I am considering a splurge meal for dinner tonight so I wanted to save up some calories. Instead of putting a banana and peanut powder in this morning's smoothie, I had a cinnamon apple on the side. The smoothie was not AS good but still tasty.
4 ice cubes
1 cup flax milk
1 scoop chocolate protein
1 Tsp cocoa

Juice, starring a new decanter

This morning's juice was fabulously mild with a slight parsnip after taste.  I made enough for at least two juices.  I found a BPA free decanter on clearance so I can store it airtight and it will retain more vitamins longer.

In the mix: kale, swiss chard, carrots, parsnips, lemon, beet, celery, parsley, tomatoes, and yellow bell pepper.

Recovery and Breakfast

After a long paddleboard workout Saturday, I used the chocolate protein mix in a smoothie with lunch in hopes for a fast recovery. It did seem to help.
This morning, I added a tbsp of peanut powder and had a smoothie breakfast.
Mixing:
1 cup Flax milk
1 scoop raw chocolate protein
1 banana
4 ice cubes

363 calories (200 from banana)

I'm using Flax milk this week because it is good and the shop I went to had it and not almond milk.

Cocoa and Raw Super Green

This one had some green powdered flavor, but cocoa was the hero.
1 scoop Garden of Life Super Green powder
1/4 cup cocoa
1 1/4 cup almond milk
1 tbsp honey
Poured over ice.
178 calories

It seemed to want cinnamon, so I put that on the apple. A great pairing.

PB2 Chocolate Protein Smoothie

PB2 is a great way to add peanut butter to a smoothie without adding the oil. I started with a handful of ice for some thickness, then added:
1 cup almond milk
1 packet of protein mix
2 tbsp PB2

165 calories
Soooo good! 8)

Juice To Go

After the smoothie success, I made up a juice to take to work. This made at least 2 big cups, so I can have some left at home. The best guess for calories per cup is 300. The app has some good juice recipes and general guesses, but I tried plugging in each ingredient. Because of all the pulp, I would think that 300 is too high.

The mix: 4 leaves of kale, 2 leaves of rainbow chard, parsley, garlic, pear, 2 apples, 4 carrots, 1/2 beet, 1 tomato, and 1 lemon
Threw on some chia seeds in the cup I'm taking.

Redemption Smoothie

After the last disaster smoothie, I needed a comeback. This was it!
For my best yet smoothie:
1 cup almond milk
1 banana
1 pack Garden of Life chocolate protein mix
300 calories (most from the banana)

Epic Fail Smoothie

Someone planted the idea of a chocolate PB2 (powdered peanut butter-no oil) in my head today. I went to make it and decided to put in some of my previous green juice because it was getting too old to last. WRONG move! I doubled everything and added honey to make it bearable. Leftovers anyone?
No recipe for this. It's in your best interest.

The chopped ice was the best part. 8)

Almond Milk Protein Smoothie

Today, I broke in my new and fabulous blender. I put some frozen mixed berries in and used the chop ice function. Then I added 1 1/2 cups of unsweetened Almond milk. It was still too thick, so I poured in 1/2 cup of coconut water. A scoop of berry flavored veg protein mix finished it off. It made 2 glasses. According to the app I am using, each glass is about 169 calories.
Enjoy!

Greener Days Ahead

The kale looked amazing tonight at my organic shop so I doubled up.
With a way too early start tomorrow, I juiced up tonight in prep. I will be using some add-ins mentioned last time.
The base juice: kale, rainbow chard, garlic, scallions, amazing pink grapefruit, tomato, parsley, and ginger.

What's Up Doc

Carrots are the stars this week. I made a juice that lasted a couple if days and doctored up differently for variety.

The juice: carrots, bok choy, lemon, scallion, pear, and apple (ran out of kale).

The doctors ~one per glass: hot sauce, chia seeds, veg protein powder.

P.S.: I am freezing the carrot pulp for a future soup.
